We have been teased by Yamaha for a couple of years now. Is this brilliant Marketing by Yamaha that will result in record-breaking sales? Or did they just force all the other factories to create a competing bike that will actually steal sales away from them?
Time will tell, but one thing is for sure. There is a ton of hype surrounding this bike. So, while we wait for the "Rumored" launch to officially occur on November 5th, feel free to take a trip back down memory lane with us as we rewatch all of the videos that have stolen our curiosity and created so much debate.
The first Video, uploaded by Yamaha on November 7th 2016 that caught the Moto world by storm.
Fast forward 365 days to November 2017 and Yamaha showed off the "Prototype" Tenere 700 at the EICMA show.
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid Prototype
Most of us thought that the bike would be officially released by spring, summer of 2018 at the latest.
But then the World Raid teaser videos began.
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid | Australia Stage -May 2018
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid | Moroccan Stage - July 2018
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid | South American Stage -September 2018
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid | European Stage- October 2018
Notice anything missing from Yamaha's World Raid? There is no United States stage video. Does the motorcycle world drop off in the middle Atlantic ocean or is Yamaha just focusing on their first launch prospective customers?
We American riders have good reason to be nervous. The XT 660 Tenere never made it's way to the United States. The current FJ-07 has never been launched n the United States and there still is no announcement of its anticipated arrival here, either.
Not sure if it's emissions laws, USA tariff's or a perceived lack of interest but Yamaha leaves a good chunk of its bikes off the USA showrooms.
With all of the hype surrounding this bike, it would be a huge mistake to not bring this bike to the United States. It would be wise to at least "mention" a future release date for the US market at the EICMA show, or a lot of US buyers will be choosing other dual sport bikes.
Enjoy rewatching the videos above. Maybe one of you could edit them all together and post it below? Anything to keep us occupied until November 5th.
