What crashbars to choose?

I am looking at engine bars only. the best wrap around or protection for the engine cases appears to be

Lower Crash bars for Yamaha Tenere 700 Material - Stainless steel (black powder coated) Super strong 25mm stainless steel tube with 2mm wall thickness Crash bars are fitted using 8mm thick stainless steel mounting brackets on each side of the upper frame  The lower section mounts directly to frame for extra strength. T

But the H and B ones have the East West bar that appears to give them more lateral strength.

Any other thoughts on the strongest, most protective engine only bars?

Touratech has similar ones

Pas en combinaison avec la protection OEM BW3-F43B0-02-00.<br>Non compatible avec le garde moteur d'origine Rallye BW3-F84R0-01-00.

And maybe Outback motortech just the lower portion

Hi Sven

thanks for doing the hard work, i prefer the Lower Givi one, currently have the AS silver bars which are great however it makes the bike look too wide I think so pondering on the Givi or genuine yamaha ones.

the extras kgs are very low down so wont notice anyway.

Do Givi use the same mounts as the genuine ones?

and why did you not go for the yam ones?

i see Givi do them in silver also!

your thoughts buddy?

cheers

Hi as I dont have the install instructions for the Yamaha ones I dont know exactly how they are mounted, but I think they use the same mounting point at the front + an additional mounting point rear, the Givi dont need.
Price and weight was the reason not to choose the Yamaha ones.  I like the minimalistic look of the Givi ones and they should offer enough protection for my rides. I like black better than silver on my bike. All other tubes is in black.

Cheers

Great ideas lads, are the givi bars mounted in the same way as the genuine yam bars??

Would be nice if someone with Yamaha bars shoot pics closeup to the front mounting point so we could judge the differences between Yam and Givi...

Hi.
I have Yamaha's original, so here are some pictures.
Tell me if you need more pictures from other angles.
I have not thought about these so much, but only bought what was available at the time.

Has anyone fitted the BB Offroad Bash plate and the Hepco and Becker Engine protection bars? Any fitment or compatibility issues?

Well had an awesome off road adventure today and unwittingly tested out my Givi crash bar/barkbuster protection combo - super please to say that after two hard falls at slow/med speed the bike has come away without a mark! Had a good look around the bike when it was laying on both sides and nothing but the bars & busters (plus exhaust can on right) were in contact with the ground. Very happy with my choice and can recommend both items.

Just about to try it out. Have the B&B on already and just got a message the H&B lower bars are ready to pick up form Post office. From the pics they look like they will. Stand by and will get back to you in the next few days.

I am very interested in how this turns out. But i got impatient and ordered the H&B engine bars and plate as a set. But i would've preferred the BB plate.

Just offered them up just now. Looks like they will fit with the B&B. On night shift at the moment so will install them later this week when I'm on break. They seem like a good thing. Have also just ordered the matching top bar, they where not available when I placed my order for the lower bars. Would be nice If the can get here by end of week so I can also bolt them up. will keep you posted.

Hi Dashredder, Here is my AS Crashbar in blue, although covered partially by foam for protection. AS Rack also installed in blue, with foam also... Fits OK with high Acerbis Supermotard fender as well, with the note that I cut both top and low fenders... ! Cheers, Oscar

Something to keep in mind is that Camel Adv's 1 Finger Clutch Kit will not work with the  Yamaha bars. I was going to go with the Yamaha bars but now I will be getting the Givi's instead.

I can confirm the B@B bash plate works with Hepco & Becker lower crash bars.

1. Will they fit on?   Yes

2. Will they bolt straight on? No

3. Are they easy to make fit on? Yes

Basically the bars and bash plate fit but the edge of the bash plate is a few mm too tall. This was easily fixed with a few mins reshaping the bash plate with a flap disc on the grinder as per the pics.

The only other issues I had was the counter sunk mounting bolts on the back of the bash plate are a few mm too long, this again was sorted out with the grinder in a few min. H&B supply new torx head mounting bolts for the lower mounts. On the right hand side mount it is not possible to do this up with the B&B bracket in the way so the torx head bolt was replaced with a std hex head bolt. H&B also supply 7mm spacers for the lower mount but it says in the instructions they are not required if used with the H&B bash plate. As the B&B brackets are 4mm I added 2x washers on each bolt as spacers to make up around 7mm as would be required with the std bash plate.

My initial impressions are they are very solid with strong mounting points, high quality and should offer plenty of protection.63037987_IMG_20210108_0939311.thumb.jpg.e5e83a4178e1a2fb2000b2c2dec983da.jpg611921407_IMG_20210108_0939451.thumb.jpg.d38324b6a15b9940398926c5eb49e265.jpg176672221_IMG_20210108_1216431.thumb.jpg.07bcf0dc24efd922149f08a57d78befe.jpg1417159114_IMG_20210108_1216541.thumb.jpg.74f81d0fbdc7f03e4df6ca3abf08f2e2.jpg1628636164_IMG_20210108_1217031.thumb.jpg.28218b6ecff3d115c2ac64233b18e776.jpg924422051_IMG_20210108_1257471.thumb.jpg.aeb64db4cdb95028bea7b35c670fe2ff.jpg

Awesome, thank you. I'll order mine now. They seem to offer the best casing protection, I wasn't keen on the R&G engine casing covers I'm thinking they may retain to much heat.
