How do I fix a bent exhaust hanger?

jeff03064

Question

Welp, after over 4 months of waiting I finally got to ride my T7. I made it a whopping 29 miles before I had spectacular zero mph tip over that snapped my RH mirror and bent my exhaust hanger. Ugh! I'm going to replace the mirror with Double Take but what do I do about the bent exhaust hanger? I assume I can just bend it back, but how? Is there any general consensus on how to bend it back? Hit it with a hammer? Somehow get leverage on it and pull? How are people dealing with this?

For those who just got your bike and are hitting the trail for the first time... those mirrors rotate in. Do it.

Great idea. Just torque it or add a little “clutch”. Brilliant.

Looks like I bent my muffler inwards on my first ride, shaved off a little bit on the swingarm paint before I realized it.

I'm going to try and bend it back out and then add a few washers to space out the muffler.

Eventually I will buy a high sitting muffler - is there one that does not require any cutting of the frame or plastics?

I had this happen this weekend. For the trail fix, I just stuck a large branch between the tire and exhaust and pried it back. I'm leaning towards the Camel now for both weight savings and to fix this. There are a lot of other high exhausts out now but all use the same hanger somehow.
