What have you done for your T7 today?

Lots of random bolt-on farkles today:

Really wanted a Green Chile soft rack, but I've gone pretty hard on the farkles to date, and needed to save a couple bucks.  So, I hit up Amazon and got myself a weekend warrior "Tactical Kombat Vest".  Works for me.

Mirror extenders, and swanky but inexpensive adjustable shorty levers (save my poor fingers from being smashed by the clutch lever).

20211014_112320.thumb.jpg.d4a2afa731be696d7df97a6092c47124.jpg

And finally, small crash bar bags and windshield adjusters.

The whole lot weighed in under $100 together.

Neat idea! Where did you move the turn signals to?

Today I removed the OEM grey decals from the rear side panels on my black T7, then fit 3M clear paint protector film on those panels and the painted piece behind the seat. The film was done for paint protection when I use my Green Chile Adventure Gear rackless harness and bags for a camping trip later this week, and decal removal was just because I like the look better.

Forgot to take a picture after decal removal, and with this being my first time ever fitting paint protector film on numerous compound curves I'll spare your eyes having to look at the end result. Functional as-is, but I'll likely redo it over the winter because the T7's too good looking to wear such a hideous abomination. That's it, I'll tell everyone the T7 is just wearing it's Halloween costume!

Finally got around to changing the OEM tyres. I was surprised how well they coped with dirt and tar here in Oz.

What a bastard the rear was to break the bead! I resorted to using a couple of sliding clamps to crack it. I new I should have aired down to 10psi and gone for a ride around the block ( 10kms).

Using a bit of DRC bead lube the new Scorpion Rallys slid on.

Now to scrub off the gloss.

Replaced the rear tire. The Motoz Rallz was shot after 5k miles. Mounted a Bridgestone AX 41. I’m guessing it won’t last nearly as long but felt great on the quick test ride I took.
While I was in there I noticed that the rear pads were completely shot at 7500 miles. Did not expect that. Have a set of Gaflers on order from CamelADV.

I have to agree with you I have found them reasonable performers in Oz they are great on the black stuff and handle our dry dirt quite well. I haven’t been out in any real mud to make a rational statement on that side of their performance but I’ve been happy with them. What replacement did you go for the STR or F?

F front and rear. I have been using the F for quite a few years on my old F8GS and was happy with the grip on and off road plus the price for the front is OK.

I haven't used a rear yet as I always gravitated to a Mitas E09.

I think Greg Yager ( rideADV ) is using the Scorpion on the rear with good success.

Yep you are right he was talking about them on his last podcast. Thanks for getting back to me my rear is due for replacement and I was fairly certain that that’s the way I was going to go but it is always good to get feedback from someone else.

I bought one of those tyre changing stands ( my left knee is not good to kneel on! ) which helped the rear immensely. The lever that came with it is not much chop but the bigger Michelin pattern leavers and DRC bead lube made short work.

The front is a doddle and I usually use the small Metzeler levers.

I usualy run a motoz tractionator rallz on the rear and love it apart from the highway drone.

Great traction and handling bitumen and especially dirt 10-15000k

I used the Scorpion NON STR on a recent 10 day trip 4500k total, 3500 dirt 1000 fast bitumen and the rear is 90% done but it was also great in the dirt and road and without drone.

My front have always been the Pirelli Mt21 and been great.

I am about to change the pirelli scorpion rear out for a motoz tractionator desert HT and I hope it is as good as the Rallz was.

Looks like you have the Yamaha Engine guards. Where did you pick up those little bags?

Hey, that's a really interesting idea.  I suppose for those of us cheap bastards buying $20 ChinaLights, a set of your normal turn signal adapters would do the job to achieve this.  Of course, it would necessitate some other approach for turn signals, but I really like the idea of having auxiliary lights up there and protected.

I mounted the turn signals on the hand guards with Denali T3 lights

I had a guy make me some lightweight luggage racks. Was thinking about the adventure spec's but didn't want to wait. I use enduristan moonson 3 quite rarely, but they were rubbing on det stickers so wanted something that would fix that. At the same time I didn't want it to be to "loud".

Loads, again 🤣

Installed the R&G side racks and happy with them. They're very similar to the AS, but have stock and more random hole positions for luggage tie down.

Popped the Optimate trickle charger lead on the battery.

Fitted the strap receivers for the Mosko Nomax tank bag, which I would say is the best bag I've ever had. I also fitted a spare set, so it can sit as a rear seat bag.

Ordered the ASV short levers and Kriega OS 12 x 2 and that is me at the end of farkling.

Installed 4 out of 5 of my new Kriega bags today, 2 on the rear tenere 700 os base and 2 on the outback motortek crash bars. I haven't installed the universal tank mount with us5 bag yet.

I did 6on the base and front, I just don't like the huge bulky bag look, although if I had the time to do long trips I would have definitely considered going larger.

Thanks, I decided to go with super cheap exhaust knowing I would most likely be putting it down on that side at some point or another offroad but then I went and spent the money to put all this protection on it lol. It's actually not a bad little exhaust at all and sounds really good. Here's a link for the exhaust protectors if you're interested  https://amzn.to/3zrpNa4
