No worries, thanks Louis. I'll hit them up and share if I hear back.

Wayne from Safari Tanks got back to me.

"The weight of our 25L tank is @ 5kg. Our tank will carry the fuel at a similar point to the original COG."

I was also looking at the images on the website and it does appear to use some space under the covers. The Safari tank will hold 2-3 litres more than the Acerbis tank. These tanks (Safari and Acerbis) will be the lightest option I think compared to lowered tanks or additional tanks, so I guess it depends on what you value most, light weight or low weight, or simply range. The Safari is +9 litres which is a lot more than the standard tank considering we would likely only use 13 of the 16 litres.

i've enjoyed watching this thread,   but I will ask

Has anyone been able to ORDER one of these magical unicorn tanks?

Is there a part number, and an "add to cart" button?

just checking....

Ok, finally got my tank off and in pieces to do a fair comparison. Safari claim they are using the OEM mounts so by my measure the Safari tank will add only 300 grams to the weight of the bike to allow an addition 9 litres. Same centre of gravity. Not bad if range is the biggest issue.

I find it hard to believe that the Acerbis tank is 1.5kgs lighter. It might be possible if it replaces the tank mount as well. This tank is +6 litres. I hope we get more details on this tank soon.

Original tank - 4.7kgs considering I had about 200ml of fuel still left in the tank that I couldn't get out readily.

Tank mount - 360 grams

Fuel pump - 425 grams

Fuel pump mount - 100 grams

all I see is "find your dealer"

So I am gonna ask the same broken-record question I keep asking:

Is there an actual part number, and can we order it?

:D

I think these are the numbers you are looking for.

cod.: 0024743
cod. US: 291147

You can only order it for now from off-the-road... but they won't have more stock before November.

The Acerbis tank looks gorgeous (for a big fat tank). It appears to carry a fair amount of fuel lower down than the standard tank. It's a no brainer at 1.5kgs lighter than the standard tank.

So my order is in with AdventureMoto in Australia for $670 AUD (about $490 USD). Delivery some time around October according to the Australian distributor.

Hell yeah I’m in. Was worried any aftermarket tank would ruin the look. This looks great. 🍺

They were just starting to take orders yesterday. The "sold out" was likely just the web site saying they dont have stock yet, so give them a call to be in the first shipment.

I’ve asked acerbis uk for a date.
They have it down as £400. From Germany (due November as someone said earlier) (off the road) it’s about £320 with uk tax, free delivery, but probably about £15-20 in fees I reckon. And a wait. Might be more. 🤔

Interested to see how much wider at the knees when seated the bigger tanks are vs OEM.

The 5.3 gallon Acerbis tank on my DR650 was 1 inch wider at the knees than a 4.9 gallon IMS tank; not a big difference in capacity but a noticeable difference when forward on the seat and sliding the rear on dirt corners. I went back to an IMS on that bike for just that reason.

I realize something's got to give to obtain a bigger capacity.

Agree TimeMachine this is the tank we have been waiting for, less weight, more fuel and looks good. Best ring Adventuremoto tomorrow, to bet the rush.

Hey jdub53, from the photos above it looks like the tank would be similar in size where it matters. The space where the current top cover sits has been used and then in the space towards the front down low. Lets hope its the same🤞

Just ordered the tank. I’ll let you know how it looks when I get it. Not sure if it comes complete or if I need to buy cocks etc? But being acerbis it will be good quality no doubt.
excited like a 7 yr old on Xmas eve. 🤩
