I'm a bit disappointed... thought that in TX everything was bigger but that's one sad size Eiffel tower.

I don't see a picture of your Eiffel tower...

Still waiting for my new T7 to arrive in the country so the auld xt660z is still in service for now.

Took advantage of a dull but dry day and had a couple of hours ride to and around Eshbrack Bog  in Co. Monaghan.

4°c but felt colder due to a stiff breeze that added a bit of wind chill......

The peat bog is situated on a mountain-top, Sliabh Beagh.     It has lovely long views on brighter, Summer days.

There's rough but hard enough tracks around the bog area but straying onto that reedy, grass stuff can see you axle deep if you're not careful.

It looks like you could just ride straight across it but it's the devils own job to walk on most of it, never mind ride.

So, best to keep to the defined track.

I came close to 'Bragan Penal Cross' at one point.....

There's a bit of Anglo-Irish history here....

Back on the tar I rode till I found a bit of a picnic area....

Enjoyed my first Alfresco Breakfast of 2022.

Yes.  I know it quite well.

There's been a Photo-Rally point or two around there.

The German Military Centre was one of 'em.

I had a good day out a couple of months back before the winter set in proper.

Fair play...it's a credit to the local community and to the German folk that help maintain it.

Great views from where the old zinc mine ruins are.

(Where that film Reign of Fire(?) was set)

It'd be a bit chilly up there at this time of the year.

I was well wrapped up even in October.

I think that name's most common in the north of Ireland and even more so in Northern Ireland.

My wife's family is From Rostrevor in Northern Ireland and I once knew a lad, Marty McMillan from way back in the seventies.

I'd guess the name came across with the Scottish Settlers back in the 16th century.

I live a short ride from the German graveyard so I've ridden those roads for many years, I think I know all the spots in your pics, the T7's the perfect bike for the roads up there

Still waiting for my new T7 but, in the meantime......

Back in August '21 I took advantage of a bit of a window in the bad weather that we'd been having.

I had a photo rally destination to visit and combined it with a bit of a route planning exercise with the MyRoute planning app.
For a large part of my ride to Mayo I plotted back-road riding.
So,  I was looking at a bit less of this.....

Capture1.thumb.GIF.ddb6cc695f707552fa66227383ad9c6b.GIF

....and a lot more of this:

Capture2.thumb.GIF.610115e96373b0ee2f46a0e0c887bbe1.GIF

I set off at just after 05:30,  and a few minutes after dawn broke.
It was a beautiful morning and my ride westwards would see the low morning sun at my back.

6.thumb.JPG.4f9bb19a6524034a5f2528b4f0791912.JPG
The day quickly brightened as I rode through Co. Cavan's lake lands.

I travelled along many miles of leafy lanes meandering through small lakes and across rivers.

7.thumb.JPG.f8e944a969cea0b279c4c6e8495ff30b.JPG

I was on my way West Mayo to visit a memorial commemorating the War of Independence and my back-roads riding to get there was sublime.
21.jpg.25aa891ef9cf1fdffd0a9def517fa092.jpg

There's an old Abbey a little bit further westwards from here..

The ride to there was simply....lovely!

12.thumb.JPG.5d8d191ae1db01f046126d4d87a9d304.JPG

Burrishoole Abbey is a National Monument situated 2 miles N.W of Newport just off the main Achill road. The name Burrishoole is derived from the Norman word "Burgus" and "Umhaill"  the name given to the surrounding territory. The abbey is a hauntingly beautiful ruin situated at the edge of a quiet tidal estuary. The nave, chancel, tower and south transept remain, and there are ruins of domestic buildings and a cloister to the north.

22.thumb.JPG.7000fe137a840d1e078be1eae5b86621.JPG

It had taken me a little over 4 hours to reach here,  a journey that would've been closer to 3 if I'd have taken 'the national route'
It was well worth the meandering journey though.  Blissfully engaging and entertaining riding.

I took a quicker ride home that was a bit bland by comparison.

I made a few photos into a short slide show.

Beautiful!  Thanks for posting that @Toppie.  My wife says we have to go there for our next holiday.  This is going to cost lots I'll bet.  (That is for me to rent a bike and ride around, she doesn't know this yet.)  The slide show was most excellent.  Thanks again.

great spin there.

Any idea when your T7 is due in? I ordered a 2022 one in December but was told it could be 6 months before it arrives

EDIT: I should add I am based in Ireland too

Just got a call this morning Jason.

Megabikes in Dublin have mine in today.

Just the formalities to do now.

Moto4you in Dubs have a blue one going spare at the moment as well.

Don't know how long for though.

Trevor. The owner called me yesterday and offered it too me.

I would've taken it if Megabikes hadn't got a blue jobbie for me.

I think both dealers might have a black one spare as well.......🤔

Good luck....... whereabouts are you?

5th January at Megabikes.

I was told there'd be a 'small' delivery to Ireland in late January-mid February and another delivery 2nd quarter of the year......whatever that means.
Meskills in Limerick will be getting a delivery this week.

Who are you dealing with?

(I should just add......I actually voiced definite interest with Megabikes mid December but they only got my deposit in January.

Don't know if that makes a difference.)

Is yours a Rally or standard?

Ordered in Bray Honda Centre, they’re good folks there. Weird that other shops seem to be getting stock though but I just spoke with them and no sign of anything. Perhaps the other shops placed an order earlier in 2021 before distribution was cut

I got the distinct feeling that Yamaha are filtering their limited stock to 'favoured' Yamaha dealerships.
