Tubeless rim options for the Tenere?

Here is a dumb question.  Why doesn't anyone sell the BMW style wheels with the spokes on the side?   Patent/copyright or something?

Or like the Super Ténéré.

Just completed the tubeless conversion of my rear OEM wheel and installed a Motoz Tractionator Adventure tire.

I used the 3M 5200 fast cure sealant on the spoke nipples, 2-inch wide 3M sealing tape, and a valve stem from Napa.

I had some trouble getting the beads to seal against the wheel but some nice mechanic at a local gas station helped me out.  We got the beads to seal using the ratchet-strap method.  Inflated to 35 PSI, checked it again in 24 hours and didn't lose any air at all.

And for anyone who struggles with mounting tires, the zip-tie method absolutely works.  The Motoz Adventure tire is an absolute meaty beast of a tire and very stiff.  It took me more time to put on the zip ties than it did to mount the tire.  Just be sure to use plenty of tire lube around the tire beads and on the inside and outside edges of the wheel.

Looks awesome few questions. Which valve size did you use, and do you have any idea if this adhesive will prevent spoke balancing if needed?

Bartfactory tubeless Excel rims installed with new Michelin Anakee Adventure tires! I have had two tube failures in the last few weeks, so I am very happy to move on to tubeless!

Here is the valve that I used.  I honestly don't know if the adhesive will prevent adjusting the spokes.  Better to adjust them if needed before converting over to tubeless.

Is the the tkc70 rocks mated to the trailmax mission front? I tried that combo and got terrible wobble on uneven tarmac and rain grove concrete highways.  Please tell me you have a solution.

Yes it is.  I did notice wobble on the front on some paved sections, but on my last (albeit shorter) pavement ride I didn't notice any.  I had a gravel-road trip in between so perhaps the front needed more scrubbing-in?  I'll need another long pavement trip to be sure.

Regardless, I'm really liking these tires so far.  Gave me the extra bit of traction I wanted on gravel, and ride plenty smooth on pavement.

Kineo Wire Spoked Wheels Yamaha XTZ700 Tenere 700 2019> onwards

These are the coolest tubeless wheels I've seen yet!  Unfortunately they're wider than oem which for some of us is going the wrong direction.

Yes, pic is of their offering for a BMW, but their T700 Wheels pics weren't the best to detail their unique spoke orientation.

I just wanted to let everyone know that if you are interested in Alpina Wheels - they are increasing their pricing in September.

I ordered a pair recently and asked whether they provided anodized aluminium wheel spacers - they do not.

Does anyone have a source for wheel spacers made of anodized aluminium?

Thanks to @REDHORSECA for answering all my questions.

Another question I’ve often wondered is why isn’t there a non spoked rim, like the Centerlines they race trucks in Baja with?

More tubeless porn for yous.

Naive noob question: never had tubeless tyres before: are the tyre pressures the same as for the standard tubed tyres?

Cheers.

@Seventh Son

You said you used the 2" tape, but the edge looks uneven.  Did you have to trim it?  Would 1.5" work better?

No, I would not use 1.5" as it would not be wide enough.  The 2-inch tape was perfect.  If the edges look uneven, it's because I was pressing down and spreading the tape to the outer edge of the dish.

Any more of an update after having that tire combo on for some miles?

I still feel a little squigliness on some paved surfaces, but it's less than when new.  As a 50/50 tire it doesn't bother me at all.

I'm on the fence, in terms of whether to convert my rear to tubless (Outex). I'm thinking if I do stick with tubes, I might consider sanding down/off the raised ribs in the rear rim. Otherwise it'd be a complete PITA to de-bead the tyre to get the tube out when out in the field!

Have done front and rear with 3M  4412N. Didn't seal the nipples first, just one round of tape.

Motoz Adventure Q on the rear

Motoz Desert H/T on the front

Have spent a couple of days in the mountains/fire trails etc.

So far, so good.

So something went wrong. Shop used brake cleaner to clean the rims, then cure with 3M sealant over 24hrs and then 3M 4412N tape. It was all great for the first 4000km but then my rear went to 0.3 bars and I had a hell of day finding where do I get the tubes in the middle of nowhere in Hungary (lovely country but finding someone who speaks anything but Hungarian outside of Budapest is a real challange). Here is how it looked after I finally managed to find a shop and put the tubes. Any suggestions why this might have happened?

BTW is it a common thing among BMW riders to not give an F if something happens or I  just happened to be very luck with the group I was riding?
