I have always thought a big bore DRZ with EFI and a 6th gear would be really close to the perfect dual sport.

You mean the Honda CRF450RL?

Lightweight 450 with EFI with a 6 speed.

Husky 501???

I agree with you too.   That is a crazy durable motorcycle.  There are lots of other great choices too.

The nice thing about the DRZ is that it is not based on a dirt bike motor and has the dry sump oil system with the frame oil reservoir that increases oil capacity (and service intervals) and allows for some oil cooling. According to the manual, both the 501 and CRF would need the oil changed every two days on a multi-day trip. For me, the added weight of the DRZ over the 501 is worth it. Which is also one of the reasons I got a T7 over a 690/701.

Suzuki DR350 Air cooled, six speed, carburated.

Did any of you ever watch Austin Vince's "Mondo Enduro"?

A group of ordinary guys travel around the world on DR350's in the early 90's.

44,000 miles, 400+ days, shoestring budget.

Long before Ewan Mcgregor's "Long Way Round", and 10x more real.

Hey, it is real to have chase trucks and unlimted finances, isn't it?

Here is the movie "Mondo Enduro".

It is NOT a Hollywood production. Austin Vince had a hand held camera to document everything.

Super Duper cool, if you are a real biker!

Kick Start, Air cooled 350cc bike around the world....

A couple of guys dropped out half way, but who could blame them.

This movie is only second to "On Any Sunday" as far as being a classic!

Watch It!!
