I don't know if a T700 is cut out for this type of Adventure!

I would "play it safe" and go with a proven commodity like a BMW GSA!!     I've seen plenty make it back and forth from the hinterlands known as Starbucks!!

“Anyone here actually plan on bending your exhaust back out when you take your T7 offroad?”

Let’s update the damage count - it’s been one hell of a season dualsporting this pig around.

Adventure Spec crash bars folded in, punching in a header pipe and cracking the RH fairing.
Exhaust bent in (and back out) a dozen times.
Headlight not working at all.

Front rim is bent.

Broken mirror.

Bent handlebars.
Twisted forks.
Missing my 250 just a bit... they say go big or go home. Now here I am, having gone big and stuck at home with some minor repairs and tweaks. Great riding season, with offroad days being one hell of a workout. Looking forward to the next one (with full knobbies this time!)

One of the main reasons I put the original luggage rack on was to protect the exhaust pipe. It also offers good handles to hold the motorcycle, lift it, etc. And stabilize the load that I put in the back of the seat. I have no plans to put suitcases.

I'm sure that with the new MotoZ your bike visits the ground less often 🙂. And I hope mine too  😅.

The OEM Pirellis are great on the road, but off the road they are dangerous.

Plenty of off road done already. Suspension upgrades (front/rear springs), some protection and new tyres were needed. Weight is still an issue, treat it like an adventure bike not an MX bike and you’ll be just fine.

Wouldn't have bought this bike strictly for road. The inaugural ride home from the dealer included a short gravel stretch. The regular commute home from work includes a little single track section. Several outings with riding mates have been primarily off road two track & single track.

T7 is a clydesdale compared to the DRZ in the trails, but still plenty capable & now I'm getting more comfortable with it, t's only going to get more challenging.

Went on a nice day trip recently trying out new hand warmers.  This may be my last as their starting to pummel the roads with salt at every forecast of a flurry. I have no issue riding in the cold and have learned to have some great patients slowing down the pace in a light layer of the fluffy stuff but when the salt trucks come out in droves the riding will cease.

A toasty 36 degrees. (daytime high! Started in 31)

I've been using mine for woods riding in Southwest Michigan. Twotraks and open singletrak suit this bike very well. I'm still running stock tires and it works well most everywhere short of deep sand and mud.

Look forward to the next set of dirt worthy tires!

Not sure about single track yet.  I pre-ordered the T7 for BDRs and longer adventures.  I'll do 50" on it for sure.  For single track I'll stick with the KLX.  I like my KLX and it is fine for BDRs except getting to and from the start/finish points.  The T7 will solve this problem.

I have a KLX250/351 that I have been using for offroad stuff recently. It's about an hour of road to the nearest National Forest to do anything more difficult than farm lanes.

I got the T-7 to do some BDRs next year, and to make the rides to the forests a little more doable.

I went off road this weekend with my ADV Rider pals. Another T700 (Felipe) with me, mostly BMW GSA and a KTM 500. One female rider on a GSA 1200.

That is me down at 3:04. I went down 3 times. Last one on hard terrain and that hurt. The other two were on the sand.

I’m in Chino Hills and just got my Tenere in the last couple weeks. Did a fun ride up through Arrowhead this week.

Many of my ADV pals live in Corona. I know a couple T700s there. I work in City of Industry.

The other T700 in the video with me is doing a Big Bear ride with his pals probably this or next weekend. These guys are ADV Big Bike noobs, so probably more paved roads riding in BB. We'll see if we can persuade them onto some forest roads when we are up there.

I’m a Jeep guy and very familiar with the trail system up there. The route I took this week is really mellow, just fire roads, there are a few optional routes that you can take if you want to add some challenge, put my first scratch on the T7, crash bars are on the way

My buddy Felipe put beauty marks on both sides of his T7, he too is now looking for some crash guards. lol

I've done some MTB, 4x4ing, and shooting up in BB and Lake Arrowhead areas. I meet Felipe off roading on his BMW in BB this past June.

I plan on at the least hitting Engineer Pass in Colorado.  If I could do on my S10, I could do it on this. Knock on wood.

Join the SOCAL Club section here on this forum.  The Geico Camp and Ride Rally that was supposed to happen that week got canceled for Covid. But the eight of us continued on for our own ride. I'll try to remember to include you on any ride we may go on.
