GYTR Rear Fuel Tank ordered.

Order Placed: 2024.06.05

Parts Shipped: 2024.06.11 - Note that the order was held up by the rear brake kit.

I know, I know there are cheaper solutions. But you only live once.

Anywho lets see how well this fits on a NA spec Tenere 700. And if it works, well I'll probably need upgrades to the rear suspension.

Interested in how the install goes, please document with pics.  Side question,  when riding on the sidewalk in Milwaukee,  do pedestrians still have to walk facing the opposing motorcycles?  😉

If you don’t connect it to the existing tank, you have a more useful 12 litres of ale for a rally. 🍺🍺👍😎

not lager of course. Too much gas. 💥

@Dougie Silly Goose... don't you know

Milwaukee:
Only one city can claim to be "The Beer Capital of the World” and that city is Milwaukee. Once home to Miller, Schlitz, Pabst and Blatz breweries (to name a few).
The extra petrol is needed to explore the vast emptiness of S/E Wisconsin (wink).

Sorry for the cultural differences disconnect.  I figured riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk was illegal just about everywhere,  my bad.... 😕

Not a "bad" of any kind dude, I just assumed it was a beer joke or something lol

As for riding on the pavement yeah technically you're only supposed to ride/drive "as far a necessery" which is open to interpretation lol

Parking outside of shops and stuff as above is the norm here really.  No-one bats an eye as long as there's space.

In cities the most obnoxious place is likely safest from the many many theives

Should I start a new post or do it here? I was planning on taking photos of all the parts then doing my best to cover install.

Since I started the downhill slide into off topic oblivion, it's your choice. I can nuke all off topic posts here or you can start a new thread.

Dang it just dawned on me that you're basically on par cost wise with that crazy Safari tank. When you factor in skid plate and no crash bars you basically break even.

Not to side track any more but, in Europe and most major US cities motorcycles are treated more like bicycles than cars.  Blocking a sidewalk is frowned upon but if there is enough room to squeeze in your golden.  I mean it is better then taking up a whole parking spot a car could use.   Anywhere parking space is at a premium making room for more to fit is seen as a good thing.  Also, most parking garages do not charge for motorcycles, HOV lanes are open to just one rider, tolls can be less or free.  Behaviors and custom do vary so when in Rome do as the Romans do is what I live by.

I wish this were the case. Most places where parking is at a premium have metered parking, and not using metered parking is lost revenue that they'll try to reclaim via code enforcement. We got tickets in Bend, OR for curb parking in a place that had no no parking signs. They tried to say that we weren't in a marked (metered) spot, but at least we contested and won. In DC, you'll get ticketed if you park more than one motorcycle in a spot that you paid for. Sidewalk parking is illegal in many cities (and the entire state of TX), so I won't even try that.

And this is all on topic since in many cases you'll need the extra gas to find a place to (legally) park.

29.2L (7.8gal if my maths are correct) which puts it above the Safari 25L (6.6 gal) tank. But Safari is releasing a dual tank thats 45L (11.8 gal) that is 3,300 Aussie Dollars (I think? The site doesn't say AUD or USD) Which would make it 2174 USD.

My kit was 1504.13 Euro / 1624.86 USD.

I think real distance riders will prefer the 45L. To get that with Yamie parts I'd need to drop another 2k on the GYTR front tanks plus new fairings and I'd only get 37.2L total.

Yeah their prices are listed in AUS and include a 10% tax, which shouldn't be charged on export, so assuming shipping is included it's around $2000 US. But the big equalizer is that this tank includes its own bash plate and essentially negates the need for crash bars. So when you factor those in, or even just a bash plate at ~$300 US, and assuming you don't already have those parts, the prices of the two are on par with each other. More than just volume though is location of the weight, which is both lower to please the center of gravity aficionados and more or less centered on the bike rather than hanging off the back.

Are they running the tanks like the KTMs? Low and on the sides? That would be a good deal at 1957 USD.  But I'm noticing they expected it to be out for Jan 24, and we're in Jun 24. I wonder if they ran into problems in parts sourcing and testing.
