Panniers

So im fairly new to the adventure riding seen, I have a 2021 t7, now my question is, what is the deal with panniers? Do you just get some t7 racks from what ever brand? Will all panniers fit on all racks? Or are they all brand dependent?

Usually you match the racks to the panniers.  For example, Tusk pannier racks for Tusk Panniers.  Thats not universally true and there are generic racks out there like the Outback Motortek.  Most tube frame racks can be made to work with other panniers but it may take modification.

HOWEVER, if you plan to ride off road I would suggest soft bags as hard panniers on dirt is an easy way to break an ankle or leg.  I've seen it happen firsthand to several people.  If you are new, or even experienced, to dirt riding it is very likely you will get in to situations where you'll snap a leg.  Are there people that do it?  Yes.  Are there people who do it with no injury?  Sure.  Are there more of those that have done it with no injury vs those who have and broken something?  No.

Even if you plan to take the hard panniers off when riding off-road, I'd caution against it as the racks tend to stick out enough to still catch an ankle or leg.

Just my opinion.

SW Motech pannier rails are quic detach in 2-3 mins

They take their alloy  panniers and also they do a conversion system to take other manufacturer's alloy panniers

Their racks can also take soft luggage too and they manufacture a range of their own soft luggage too and additionally their frames are suitable for other soft panniers like Wolfman or Kriega and you can also fit the Kriega boards to the SW Motech frames

I would say SW Motech make the most versatile pannier systems available and are German 🇩🇪 quality

I have their alloy boxes for road trips and use the racks with soft Wolfman Expedition panniers for off-road trips

Main benefit is that they are quick detach and the brackets stay in the bike, but the frames remove in 60 seconds per side
