Adding auxillary check engine, neutral lights

Hi All,

I would like to add auxiliary indicator lights for check engine, neutral etc. something like the GYTR Indicator Light kit (see below). Does anyone know if it is possible to connect the GYTR kit to the standard wiring loom (as I understand it, it is not plug & play with the standard loom. There is a GYTR loom which I guess this is made to connect with).

Is there another (cheaper) way to connect auxiliary indicator lights, can I just wire into the loom or do they run on the CAN bus?

Thanks.

I have been looking into this also, in this way we could remove the dash and only use a tablet via OBD.

but so far i havent found a solution 🤷

The Sb/W wire from the connector that goes to the display will give you neutral, at least for the pre-TFT models. I'm not sure exactly what the signal is and whether you can directly drive an LED from it, but you can sense neutral.

Check engine light is driven by the display via the CAN. The pre-TFT models do have a test pad on the dash (T8) that you could tap into to sense this, but I don't know if you can drive an LED from this either or what the nominal values are. I would be more cautious here than with neutral. Oil pressure and temperature lights are T6 and T7 and probably use the same logic.

The main problem is that the odometer and everything distance-related is stored in the dash.

Since the GYTR omits the dash, I would guess that the GYTR Indicator Light kit probably has its own CAN controller and might have an odometer that could be read via OBD. That would actually be pretty cool if it was the case and would make wiring a lot simpler - I'd honestly consider getting one even at that price.

@OFF THE ROAD do you know if GYTHA5K00000 stores the odometer or what the wiring is?

My idea is to replace the dash with this:

But I'm worried the check engine lights etc, will be a bit too small, hence the auxiliary indicators.

Thank you for the detailed reply, I was afraid it was all driven of the CAN, that makes it a bit more complicated.

I didn't know @OFF THE ROAD were on here, that's cool.

I think the first time I saw this they didn't have as much info posted about it. This is a pretty good option given everything it has - it's a complete display replacement and it retains ABS settings with a one-push to disable ABS. It's priced similar to the GYTR indicators and while it's twice the price of the LSK ABS dongle and doesn't support rear wheel only, when you consider that it's a whole dash replacement, it's not so bad.

That slim display is actually pretty neat 👍
