I'm currently lubing the throttle cables on my T7.  Neither my motion pro cable luber (which works great for the clutch cable/see below) or a standard cable luber device will work for the throttle cables due to the bend and the 90 degree pin in the cable housings.  So all I could figure out is to use the plastic bag method punching a hole in the bottom of the bag for the cable to go thru, zip tying it off, the pouring cable lube into the bag and hoping is slowly drips down into the cable housing.

There has to be a better way.  Any ideas?

I was able to lube the clutch cable no problem with this motion pro cable lumber (highly recommend) https://www.motosport.com/product/?code=SS-M-G-P-NA-PLA-DIRT&key=Motion-Pro-Cable-Luber-V3&cc=us&variant[MOP008S]=MOP008S-X001-Y001&cc=us&product_id=MOP008S-X001-Y001&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=Shopping_Dirt_Bike_Parts_B&gclid=7a4305d8f5c4173bc8eb6376772746f2&gclsrc=3p.ds&mrkgadid=3304651998&mrkgcl=500&rkg_id=0&utm_source=Bing_PLA&utm_medium=cpc&creative=76897153228819&device=c&msclkid=7a4305d8f5c4173bc8eb6376772746f2&gclid=7a4305d8f5c4173bc8eb6376772746f2&gclsrc=3p.ds

I fill a syringe with oil, put an injection needle on the syringe and put it between the cable and the cablehousing and empty the syringe till oil comes out at the other side.

Lubing cables attracts debris. Since the 70's I've never lubed a cable. I usually keep a bike for 65,000 miles with no issues.

You very well could be right, but I tend towards trusting the engineers.  Plus, I take this bike down to Mexico to remote areas and want to avoid issues. Cheers.

Since some decades the (factory mounted) cables have an inner sleeve made from abrasion resistant plastic (teflon?). Lubing that makes the plastic soft and the effect will be the opposite. You're not operating a lawn mover, it's a T7!

Yes, you are right, modern bikes have teflon inner sleeves.  i did not lube my T7 , but i did it on previous older bikes.

The T7 shop manual calls for lubing the T7 cables every 4,000 miles.  If they had a teflon coating that negated this requirement, why would have annotated that in the maintenance schedule?

If I have an issue, I will admit I was wrong😀

No problem.  That’s why we have these discussions.  As we used to say when I was an airline pilot. It’s not about who’s right, it’s about what’s right. 🙂
