Bike Stolen, Recovered, Broken Lock & Ignition

Hi Guys,

My Tenere was stolen the other day from my street. Thank god I had hidden an Apple Airtag in the bike. My friend picked me up in his pickup and we followed the tag to the ghettos of Irvington, NJ. Upon arrival at the SKETCHY ASS street, we called the Newark police. Turns out that if a tracker is stationary at a location for more than 30 minutes, the police will actually do something about it.  Long story short - the police recovered my bike, got the bike home, now I have to fix the broken steering lock and ignition switch.

Does anyone have experience with this repair? My key does not go all the way into the switch and I cannot turn it. It seems like the steering lock is incorporated into the switch? Please help.

BTW - I do not recommend following a tracker on your own. My life was definitely in danger at one point. I could start a rant about the nonchalant nature of the whole exchange (no arrests, no reports, police leaving me in danger...) but for the sake of staying focused I will not. Perhaps on another post.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Thank you for posting this, sorry you had to deal with it, happy you have the T7 back. I do not have any advice for your repair - my interest stems from the fact that many of us also ride $10K+ bicycles, and law enforcement apathy is even worse. But, you have your bike back!
