I've got tge IRC tr8 on now and it's been decent but about done.

the shop in Moab looks like they have d606 and shinkos, but I could look more.

any recommendations?

  • Clax changed the title to Best front with Motoz Rallyz Rear?

Or the Dual Venture...similar to the TKC80 front but cheaper. Did pretty well in that terrain for me.

I had a Pirelli MT21 front with the rallz that I really liked. Didn't last as long as the DV but longer than I expected. Also rode that in similar terrain and it's probably my favorite.

But Moab is pretty limited, so basically anything except the rallz front. Not sure how that travesty still lives.

Of course RMATV isn't far, so depending on your route/timeline you can have one delivered near you in a day or two or swing by their warehouse and get whatever you want.

I’ve got the motoz DV but man it was a pig to balance. Not so bad now. Little slippery on the wet asphalt though. I’m thinking I might go back to the old D606 next.

On the off chance you haven't already decided...

My votes would be:

Motoz Desert H/T (Tube version if running more off pavement, tubeless version if cranking more pavement miles)

Pirelli Scorpion Rally Race (good option if running a fair bit off pavement, though it surprisingly has a stiffer feeling carcass than the Motoz Desert H/T.

Motoz Rallz if a little better pavement manors is desired and a bit less control in soft stuff is ok.

Of the two you said the local guy had I'm not a huge fan of the D606 front but it works. What Shinko tire do they have?

I have the Adventure in the rear of my offroad wheelset, but probably will switch to the Rallz after this one. I have the Anakee Wild in the front and find it has been good on light single track and gravel roads. Maybe you need something with more spaced out knobs for more hardcore trails, but then again, same goes for the Rallz. I think they could be a good pair.

5,000km in and I’m loving my dual venture front. Likely will stick with it.

so far the road wear for a knobby seems good. And off-road a massive difference from my previous mitas e-07 front

They are reversible but so far seems to be wearing nice and even

AX-41 followed closely by the Dunlop Trail Max Mission if you do more pavement.
