2024 Clutch dragging

Yzmaico

Question

I traded a 2023 390 Beta on a new 2024 700 Tenere.
No Dealers near me wanted to trade the Beta so I ended up trading 200 miles from home.

The Tenere has always had a bad clutch drag and will not go into neutral at a traffic light.

I have installed a Camel arm on the clutch, no help.

I have tried different oils, no help.

I have friends with Tenere 700’s that don’t do this.

I realize the bike is under warranty but kinda dread taking the bike to a Dealer.

Anyone have this problem? Should I throw a clutch in it?

You could try adjusting the clutch lever, if that fails take it to the dealer.

There have been a few people with this problem and dealers replaced their clutches under warranty. If you don't want to mess with a dealer then just order up a OEM clutch pack kit. It will have everything you need. (Clutch, springs, and gasket).

Welcome to the forum. Searching Clutch everywhere turned up a number of threads, this one below being most pertinent to your question.   Feeling your reluctance to take your bike to a dealer, but since some 2024 models appear to exhibit this issue, you will probably be less likely out of pocket financially if you let Yamaha cover it.

You either have too much freeplay, or you have sticky plates.

If free play is correct, sticky plates it is.

The camel 1 finger would have made it worse if the plates were sticky as this increases the leverage, causing less movement on the arm itself.
