I like how it’s got 2 power sockets but it would be good if the instrument display was horizontal to give more room above for navigation

Am I missing something or is there no gear indicator, just a neutral light? Or is it possibly the window on the top right, but I would think it would still display a "N."

That appears to be the case.

I was assuming it to be the box top right.

best dash I have seen to date on a bike is the one on the new Vstrom 250, good size and layout and really neat.

As it turns out, the window in the top right of the T7 dash is the gear indicator as shown at 0:36 in this video:
