Uni FIlter or Unifilter

I posted over on ADV but 100 views in and no bites... so here goes.

I've ordered a set of air filters for my Tenere 700...well for the Tenere 700 I will have when it arrives sometime in the next week or so.

Unifilter in AUS makes a kit for the Tenere 700 and Touratech was out of stock so I ordered from the Australian supplier. Not to mention I got the main filter and a prefilter for $70 shipped from AUS compared to the $84 Touratech wanted for just the main filter...before shipping.

I did find there's a USA company by the same name and they don't make a kit for the Tenere 700 yet but I've used their products before, oil and filters on my WR250R.

What I'm trying to figure out is when someone says they run a Uni Filter, which one are they talking about? Both companies say they make the best foam air filters. Uni in USA has been around since 1969 and Unifilter in AUS I think since 1976.

Can anyone add any insight into these two seemingly similar companies both claiming to be at the top of their game?

Pretty sure most people if not all are talking Unifilter Australia, main office is only 20mins from my place and I've been using their filters in my bikes years.

I've actually never heard of the US unifilter until now.

I was a little confused too. The red & black UNI logo I'm very familiar with as a US dirt biker.  I've had their filters for my Honda/ Suzuki/ Yamaha dirt bikes.

All this talk about the T7 filter and pre-filter, I thought they were from the same UNI company.

Then I see it was an Australian company when I thought it was a USA company. That clears thing up now. I never bothered looking at the company logos to see that they were two different companies. haha

I've known about UNI Filter (USA) for all my life.

Uni Filter

Then I started seeing these UNI filter (AUS) T7 threads assuming it was the same company and learning that it was an Australian company.

Well UNI USA doesn't offer one for the Tenere 700.  Maybe in the future.  But I agree, I try to avoid Chinese IP thievery and not buy the ridiculously cheap crap they peddle all over Ebay.

I used the Australian Uni Filter they have been around for ages and specialise in performance filters. Have a look at Mungo's last post on how well they perform in the dirt. Especially the prefilter. Cheers

Any feedback on the UNI Filter / T7 performance.

And did you trim the snorkel the few mm (?) exactly per UNI recommendation?
