T7 Fork Preload Washers

Recommended Posts

Another long-awaited T7 suspension product now in production, after initial development in conjunction with the popular Uprated Rear Shock Springs, is a set of Fork Preload Spacers.
These CNC machined plastic rings, in both 2,5mm & 5mm thicknesses, give a range of extra preload on the fork springs from 2,5mm to 12,5mm, in 2,5mm increments.
Easy to fit with the OEM fork caps, they enable more preload to be added to the OEM springs, which although they are a stiff enough spring rate for most riders, they do not have enough preload, and sag too much in initial operation.
Available now on our webshop

I was hoping to do a quick mod ... but seems this is much more involved than I anticipated

http://www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/image/data/PDF/RRP 628 T7 PreLoadWashers V1.pdf

I am not sure how long it will take to do both legs ... might be half a day with some help, the right tools and setup to hold the fork vertically in a vise ...

I put the Rally-Raid adjustable fork caps on. I'm not overly mechanically inclined or confident but it was not difficult at all and no special tools or vice needed. Really enjoying the simplicity of the T7 to work on. Cheers.

I'm not sure why they made such a simple job so complicated, 30 min several times on many bikes.

okay...maybe I am the only one, maybe not...

but can someone video their procedure when they do the spacer???

A picture worth a thousand word...

Love the PDF write up but for someone who has not worked on too many suspension system let along seeing inside of it can be slightly confusing.

We have just manufactured an injection mould tool to plastic mould the preload washers for the fork & rear shock spring upgrade kits to fit the Yamaha T7 Tenere.
Previously, we cnc-machined these from acetal copolymer, but because of the increased volume, and the fact we wanted to do them in different colours, and have the model number moulded into the surface for easy identification, we opted to injection mould them, using our in-house toolmaking and moulding facility.
The next batch of over 150 rear springs (in 4 different spring rates) and 20 sets of Open Cartridge fork kits arrive this week to bring us back into stock.

Is there a source for these T7 preload washers in the USA or do I need to order thru the UK website?

@Ktmmitch I would also like to know if there is a US source, or if you can possibly find a cheaper shipping option for an item like this that fits in a small envelope. I think the website shows £30 for shipping!

Ah - I discovered there is a cheaper shipping option on the website.  Apologies!
