SHOULD I USE LOCTITE?

I'm installing sw-motech crash bars and the directions say to use loctite on bolts that the T7 manual does not say to use loctite on. These bolts are mounted to the engine and I do not want to mess anything up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Loctite won’t mess anything up, use it to your hearts content. Especially if riding off road as the extra vibrations deffo lead the bolts to working themselves loose

No problem using loctite on those bolts -blue loctite. Better than overtightening the bolts.

Should be good to use like loctite 243 blue safely but nothing stronger..  Does the crash bars specify what kind??

It said the same for the handlebar risers but no loctite on the standard bar mounts.

I use loctite on every bolt i touch except for the obvious bits eg sump plug, spark plug etc

Same. I live in California. Shet gets corroded/dusty/ everywhere so, better safe than sorry.

I also generally use the pink low strength on everything with an aluminum thread and have never had any trouble with backing off and also never pulled threads out trying to remove  the bolts

Locktite is also a great anticorrosion preventer. Especially for Steel bolts into aluminum. Seals the threads keeps them from seizing in.  If blue locktite is to aggressive for a fastener. I use purple low strength, just for the anticorrosion benefit.

If you are concerned use Loctite 222. Light weight but stops bolts vibrating loose

Alcohol! No good story starts with a salad.

The only issue with using loctite, is using TOO MUCH! I see some guys completely cover the threads-NO! Just a dab on the threads on one side is all you need. If you do have issues getting a bolt back out, just use some heat (heat gun) and it will loosen the loctite up some and make it easy to spin the bolt back out. I never use RED unless it is specifically called for, else always use the medium and I like the paste/stick one! Not as messy as the liquid version.
