Air filter 5th screw: Required?

ahamay

Question

Wanted to check my air filter. Removed the snorkel top. The filter wouldn't budge. There's another screw down deep holding filter in place. It's hard to see. And hard to see its purpose. The filter is held down by snorkel top, so I wonder if this one is necessary. Please advise.

Thanks for the reply. But is it required to hold filter in place? It's too fiddly. Putting it back is blind and took too long. Why would the snorkel cap, held by 4 large screws not suffice? I'd like to leave it out if I can, without risking clean air. It just seems redundant. Unless I am missing something. Hence my question.

The fifth screw (at the bottom) holds the filter in place. Unscrew it and you can remove the filter.
