Desert Rose Riding Academy

Friend and I have just signed up for the Stage 1 course at the Desert Rose Riding Academy on the 26th September....figured instead of buying more crap for the bike I should spend some money on training myself! I am definitely the least capable out of me and the bike 😉

Can't wait!  Will try and take some pics/video while I'm there....

Did the course on Saturday and it lived up to expectations, it was awesome!

Lovely hour and a half ride through the Kent and East Sussex countryside to get there for 8.30am, cup of coffee, met the other two attendees (nice small group) and got kitted up and allocated a bike, I got some kind of 500cc KTM.

Started with getting on and off the bike safely, more to it than you might think if you've only ever ridden on road, quite a few habits to change! Quick ride then covered body position sitting and standing and weight distribution.  Had separate sessions on turning, clutch and throttle control, braking, ascending and descending hills and as we were quick learners 🙂 got to have a look at handling my nemesis: Ruts! Got the chance to do plenty of riding around the beautiful countryside and have a few laughs along the way!

Was absolutely knackered at the end of the day, by the time I got home I could barely pull in the clutch!  Sore for a couple of days after too!

All of us said we wished we had done it years ago and we were all surprised at the level of riding and confidence we had by the end of the day, just need to get out on the Tenere now and practice....now checking out knobblies!!

Highly recommended!!!
