Tires rubbing on rear forward mudflap

I have found that the rear tire rubs a bit on the mudflap where flap contacts the U of the swingarm. These are the OEM Pirellis. There is a bit of tire rubber deposited on flap. This with about 3400 miles of wear on it. If this occurs with stock tires, I cannot see mounting an even taller tire. Not a problem until you're off pavement in bumpy stuff, using your suspension.

I am now experiencing your concern for knobby tires. As I just installed some new ones on my bike. I did also add adjustable lowering links recently but I'm just about back up to stock height trying to get the tires to stop rubbing the underside of the fender off small jumps and over logs. I also changed the stock tire size in the rear from a 150/70 to a 140/80 because the price difference was hard to ignore. Now I have to figure out just how much I have to change to get it to stop and whether its the tires or the links that are the problem. I'm in love with the knobbies after my experience with the stock Pirelli front tire so I don't think removing them is an option for me. I think I'm going to start with increasing the rear shock compression. Might stop it from happening as often but probably not entirely. I only weigh 150lbs so a stiffer ride in the back might not work out for me. All I can do is try
