Fuel line quick release coupling to fuel tank.

FredBasset

Question

He guys, I’ve taken the fuel tank of twice now, for accessory fittings and one thing that has caused difficulty was the fuel line quick disconnect to the fuel tank. I find it very difficult to squeeze the release button as its very awkward. So I was wandering, does anybody know if an alternative could be used, or do the dealer mechanics use a tool to release it?

With that type of coupling, I find pressing the male fitting into the female while  pressing the two  buttons often helps.

Just watch what type you get or more specifically what type of o-rings are fitted in it. I bought a pair recently to make a quick coupling on my rd tank and they worked well at first but became stiffer and stiffer, o-rings had swollen even though supplier said they'd be fine with petrol. Goodridge sell them but expensive and size can be an issue.

I know, not much help 🙂

Thanks guys and particularly Marc for an idea, just ordered some spark plug wire pliers, which should assist the removal of connector. 👍

Keep it simple and cheap. 2 zip ties taped together like so. Pics show a WRR but it’s the same connector used on the T7.
