Leaky gas cap?

Gas cap doesn't seem to fit right and my whole garage smells of gasoline. And yes, I know how to lock the gas cap before the snarky comments start.  The odor is very strong , so I did an experiment and put a plastic sandwich bag under the cap to seal it.  No more smell.  So I take it to the dealer and they "can't find anything wrong" and have to call Yamaha to see what to do.  Anyone else having this issue?

Make sure you have the rubber gasket over the top of the plastic gas tank cover.  Sounds obvious, but it's part of the sealing and comes off when you remove the top panel.

UPDATE: Yamaha is stepping up on this issue for me. The dealer spoke to Yamaha rep today and they are replacing the gas cap, the gas tank, and the canister to positively repair the problem. Only down side is it will take 4-6 weeks for all the replacement parts to arrive. Thanks RideNow Austin for all the assistance!
