Fuel Injection synchronization?

Moto

Question

I see in the owner's manual that injection/throttle body synchronization is scheduled for in the initial 600 mi service and then every interval after (every 4000 mi). Since I plan to do oil changes/maintenance myself, is there any way to do this DIY?

This is my first fuel injected bike, and I don't know anything about this system. Is a synch really necessary? I took my bike to the dealer for my 600 mile because when I bought it the salesman said they needed to do it at the first service. According to my service report, though, there's no mention of it. I doubt the dealer did it. So... just a "check your brake lines" type of issue?

My dealer told me if there was going to be a problem with it it would be early on.  Rarely has he had to go back and re-synch them on various Yamaha models.  It may be worth checking when doing spark plugs.
