Side Stand Extension Problem

bctz123

Question

I've just installed the GIVI Side Stand Shoe Extension and I think because of the weight of this extension there's a problem when I try to take the side stand off the ground and move it in the up position, the spring does not automatically retract it, so I have to push it with my feet all the way up. Sometimes it gets stuck in the 70-80% level, and it's a bit annoying.

Do you guys have encountered this issue and do you have a fix for it? (Other than trowing the extension in the trash bin)

Thanks!

Oil the pivot bolt and order a stronger spring. Off the top of my head, I don't know where to order the spring. You can find it somewhere on this site.

Moving this to the tech questions section. This isnt a Facebook group, we have dedicated sections for different topics so others can find this info in the years to come.

As of right now I've managed to make it work by lubing the parts with WD40. Let's see how it goes until I get the spring, and when the WD40 dries out.

WD40 is for moms... use oil!

I think Yamaha lists "Soap based Lithium Grease" as the correct lubricant, but you would need to disassemble, clean, lube, & reassemble to do it correctly with the grease.

Ok, will try with grease. WD40 was an easy fix, but will not last long I think.
