Hello, new friends

I've just put money down on a white T7 that will hopefully arrive by August. I'm in Montana so I'm hoping not to miss the entire riding season.

My first bike was an '82 XT 250 that I bought at 17 years old. Lots of learning and good times on that one. So the T7 seems perfect for me right now. I'd like to ride to work (60 miles) and then explore dirt trails with my boys who are both on Honda 50s.

I currently own a 2012 Ural Gear Up 2WD sidecar rig which has been fairly capable, but lacks both the top speed for the commute and the low end for hills on the dirt. Last weekend I overheated my clutch a couple times due to the constant slipping required to keep rpms up. That's when I decided the Yamaha T7 is for me.

This looks like a great forum and I look forward to learning and sharing with new friends.

Cheers!

Suffice to say the T7 will be a shocking upgrade from the Ural. A mate has one of those tanks & while the Russian utilitarian aspect makes them interesting machines, I can’t imagine wrestling one for too long without getting completely beat up.  Ryan F9 did an entertaining review of them once. With a watch.
Savour the anticipation of the pending upgrade, you’re unlikely to be disappointed! For such an off road capable machine, tenere also sports impressive street manners for that commute.
