There's very little weight to these extremely tough plastic protectors & if they're good enough for BSB then :0)))

Could there be any issues with heat retention?

That’s a good question. I have the Triple clamp brand covers on mine and noticed the fan kicking on in light traffic and 60 degree outside temps. Wondering the same thing.

Probably still worth the trade-off, though, it's not a big area and is not over the cylinders or head. I'd be more concerned with a plastic skid holding in the exhaust header pipe heat.

What about water and debris getting caught behind the plastic? Im mainly concerned about water sitting there and not getting out. Perhaps the heat from the engine evaporates it?

Just fitted some R&G engine protectors to my T7 which were very easy to install.

How did you deal with the different length of bolts required for the RHS cover. Once you remove the existing small protector which has an inbuilt spacer on, the two bolts are too long. I can get shorter bolts for sure but I would have thought R&G would supply the right bolts. The instructions even mention washers required yet they were not supplied with my kit. Am I missing something? Cheers

I think you are talking about the top clutch lever cover which is not required. I removed mine.
