Posted July 31, 20213 yr I managed to find a part of Scotland not full of motor homes or caravans. The roads are fantastic and very quiet.
July 31, 20213 yr If I was a guessing man I’d say it was the single track from St Marys Loch. Lovely road on a T7 👍
July 31, 20213 yr I was trying to figure out where it was. Single tracks up north are just incredible. We had a Glasgow to Banff, and back, via Perth Braemar Tomintoul, amazing pass if you haven’t tried it yet. B976.
July 31, 20213 yr Author Alan M yup at Mary’s loch. And it’s a great road. Guys next time I’m up this way I will give that route you mention a try.
August 1, 20213 yr @Stephen H I'm so jealous! Just asked my wife to be sure and she confirmed, we've been to the spot in your first post when we've been to Scotland in 2016. Very nice place, just as most of the country. Wish you a nice trip!
November 8, 20213 yr It is particular tragedy that in a country with such beautiful landscapes you cannot ride off-road. BIt like Switzerland.

November 8, 20213 yr well, that works by riding on-road. No seriously, you guys from the Americas can't imagine how much rules can apply to riding a bike. Not entering a forest for instance. We've had that discussion somewhere on the forum.

Like, what specifically is illegal? Any motorized vehicle offroad? I'd assume you can on your own property, what if you get permission? Not arguing, mind you, it's just total news to me, I've never heard that before. Seems like a crushing tragedy, though, given how bloody gorgeous Scotland is. I still absolutely want to go and rent a bike to ride through there, though.
November 9, 20213 yr 😉 I don't know the applicable laws in Scotland and can only tell what it's like in Luxembourg. Around here, you're not allowed to ride where there's no road. Then, if there's a only some sort of way/path, you're still not allowed to enter a forest. This also applies to your own land in principle, but I don't think police would argue about that with you. In fact you can only enter a forest with a motorised vehicle if you need it to work in the forest, but you're not allowed to ride around on your bike for fun. So of course nobody would ever dare...
