I really like that dealer. Scott is a great guy to buy a bike from.

I had a deposit down, but was told not to expect new ones till next year. I was lucky and snagged a used one last weekend! 👍

@cstatman @POLISHADAM82 Good to know info on these dealers. If you can, a review here would benefit folks like @dirtbird when looking for trustworthy dealers to work with.  Thx.

thanks to all for the suggestions. will make some additional calls and see but the story nationwide seems to be, dealers: 8-deep waitlists and no inventory until next year and the ones they get will likely be bought by the waitlisters. private sellers: super-jacked pricing, like 14k+. which i get, sellers market and all but, out of my range.

not trying to piss anyone off on a yamaha forum but, i guess there's always this...

The KLR650 Tengai was a one-year only bike in the United States, 1990, and is the rarest of the KLR variants. I had never even seen one in person until I stumbled across this bike up on a ranch in...

The bike has accessory lights and indicators (Cyclops), Touratech lower engine guards, nice proper hand guards, a Camel ADV tail tidy, and a rally seat. Nice mods, really, and stuff I likely would’ve done anyway. My Tenere started life living in a fog shrouded costal town, so there is a shocking (for me, not shocking really) amount of light surface corrosion for a 2021 bike. Spokes were starting to fur up, brake disk carriers had light rust, and light rust on the exhaust guards. It’s cleaning up well though and it gives me some quality time with my new bike. I paid 11.5K and the bike had a bit over 5K miles on it. More than I wanted to spend, but that’s the way it goes when you need such a rare and popular bike! No regrets and I bought it from a stand up guy.

I hope you’re able to find one!

@dirtbird It looks kind'a different for a KLR. Alway neat to have a one-off bike. Still, I would want my friends to see me riding it!

@Friscothanks for the info. that's a fair bit of $ but as you said, it's just the market. enjoy!
