Potential Options for Left Hand Rear Brake

badassler

Question

The more I throw my T7 around offroad the more I find myself wishing I had a left hand rear brake setup like I have on my dirt bike (I have Rekluse clutches on both). The dirt bike market has a couple popular options (Rekluse/Clake/etc) but those companies don't really make kits for "street" bikes that I have seen.

Does anyone have any experience with more universal options? I've done some googling and found some "thumb-brake" options but honestly I'd prefer a lever ... also most of them don't really show how they will tie into the rear brake system.

@mpatch That brake kit is kind'a neat. I have no use for it but I am sure it is great for the right person. Thanks for posting it.

If you ride shitty/hard  single track a rear hand brake can be very useful. On a bigger bike I’d never consider it….. big bikes and legit single track don’t go together.

I have a Yamaha T-Max  500 scooter with left and right levers.

My Honda Metropolitan Scooter has both hand brakes, as does my Rokon 2WD motorcycle.

Both are cable operated.

Fwiw I reached out to Ox-brake and they got back to me and said they are working on a hydraulic left-hand rear brake option for the T7, ETA early 2022 tentatively.

Not sure a LHRB can be utilised without a rekluse clutch.  When going slow you need to modulate the clutch, with a rekluse that need is removed.   I do like them. I have one on my 250xc enduro race bike that I made myself.

Ah but pol and graham are world class riders so unlikely to need one and advantage of having one is minimal.   Average Joe rider can benefit cos we are not the best in the world .....
