I carry very little for tools.  Let's see... a jack stand to lift the rear wheel, a Leatherman multi tool and the standard tool kit.  I don't ride for days on end off road or in the  back country so if I need help with something big I call for help.  And no, I don't change tire tubes on the road side if at all possible.  So far, so good.

I'd also take a ratchet strap for when you get too knackered trying to lift 200kgs after dropping it for the nth time! Ask me how I know.
