DAMNIT YAMAHA! (Paint Repair Question)

Hey fellas.

Scuffed a bit of paint off the back of my t7 not one F^*@#%^! week after putting that dope decal kit on, so now the red looks all messed up.

I asked yamaha motor australia what the color codes are and they said most places use a color scanning tool. I asked yamaha because the place here told me they need a code to use for liability.... I am now in a loop. I just want the red!

What should I do?

I was trying to get the paint at supercheapauto

Normaly a scanner is used because it's more acurate as it takes in discollouring due to UV radiation.

Always thought the Ausies where a down to earth kind of people.

I think the answers are in this thread:

I had a look, those are for the color of the stickers on the front panel as well as the panels them selves.

Annoyingly mine is the rear plastic base red

OK, I know one of the guys at our Yamaha dealer so gave him a call. He said the colour code he had listed for the red rear side panels was VYR1. No further digits after that.

That would appear to correct, too, according to this page:

https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/yamaha-parts/color-codes

If you go down the list further down the page it shows VYR1 as VIVID YELLOWISH RED 1.

Hope that helps. 👍

Thanks champ!

This shitty thing about being in a small place like tasmania is I went to an automotive paint place today, nope, didn't have it at all. Looks like I'll have to order something online maybe? Or drop it off for them to scan it.

Seriously how can an automotive place not have that red?

You guys are legends as always

Motorcycle paints are often ink based with a clear coat, just like metallics are a basecoat but these use other pigments.

Regular car paints are a pigment with a binder.
