Dryrot

Recommended Posts

Finally got my T7 today, gearing up for the IDBDR first week of September, plan to use soft saddle bag luggage, any suggestions on what rack to use….or do I even need a rack?

I'm using Adventure Spec racks with Enduristan blizzard bags, very happy with the setup.

A set of powder coated, simple, lightweight rear luggage plates designed to keep your soft luggage from folding under your back wheels.

Hope you’ve got a while. After everyone’s had their breakfast you’re going to have 100 opinions😂. I have a lightweight frame/hoop from andystrapz, and there are three or more flat panel type side brackets on here too. And loads have none. Search a bit and the answer is most definitely in here. Make a large brew first though. 😁🍺

Same, except I use my old time-served Oxford throwovers.

A rack will keep panniers from contacting your exhaust or rear tyre - neither recommended!

Mosko Moto Reckless 40 or 80 depending on how long you go, i have both and don't use a rack.
Just a homemade piece to strap the rear of the harness to.

And this is the R40, the 80 had 3 straps. I always have the 40 on and have now looped the straps trough the hoops.

rideadv solo rack for me. with kriega soft panniers. os 32's  with the us 40 top bag. [for my sleeping mat and chair]

it also serves as a crash bar. makes sure your exaust wont get hit that easy if you lay it down. loaded or unloaded.

some bag's you will need a back plate. but kriega will just strap to the fraim and its a tight fit. no unwanted movement.

how ever. if mosko moto ware a bit cheaper i would have taken those. 2x 25/30l  ones and the top bag.

i love em as it brings the weight more central to the bike. both forward and lower witch you can defeatedly feel in the handeling

used to have the oem pannier rack [hard pannier]

to the question do you need one.  no you dont. but i have seen damage to the fairing by the rackless systems.

as the fairing was not design for it.  how ever you see loads without a problem.

it all depends what you plan to pack. the weight. and how fine are you with scratches?

I cut an identical slightly larger shape from an army blanket to put under my saddle. If it’s good enough for cowboys and horses etc… 😉

My T7 was already fitted with Rally Raid soft pannier side racks when I bought it lightly used. The racks normally hang in my garage, but after reinstalling them and using on one camping trip I really appreciate how well build and functional they are.

i mean its not the most pritty but thy get the job done including extra's.

its a compromise like all the mods one does to the bike.

I'm a bit confused by these comments. The only reason I had removed the Rally Raid racks after buying my bike was because I don't keep unnecessary equipment on my bikes all the time, choosing instead to mount/use items only when needed. I think the Rally Raid racks are very well built to fulfill their mission with no compromises that I can determine, and after my camping trip I removed them once again until the next time I have a need to mount panniers on my T7. Hope that clarifies my earlier post.
