Three pin wiring polarity?

Treps

Recommended Posts

I am planning to use a 3 pin power lead to connect Denali D4 lights. I will use a socket from an old Yamaha heated grips lead. It has two cables, one brown and the other yellow with red line. Which one is +ve? I assume brown but I’d rather check before burning expensive bike electronics… Many thanks.

Thanks. The OEM Yamaha lead (triple, white triangular shape) only has two wires

You are correct looking from the bike side! I should have asked from the bike (supply) side, yes there are three cables, one black, and two which look identical, red with white line. Which is +ve? Both red ones? Thanks.

…and sorry for the numpty questions…

Can anybody help answer this please, why does the Aux 3 pin sumitoto connector have two live positive wires and one negative, and does it matter which one you use, when wiring up heated grips or sat Nav?

@FredBasset correct, 2 positive and 1 negative. You should be able to use either positive, that’s what I did for my heated grips. Both are switched power. Hope this helps.

Cheers RideID, just wondered why it had two positive wire, maybe something to do with Yamaha OEM spot light system?
