Tusk Soft Panniers and OEM Rack?

Hello.

 

I am in line for a Yamaha Tenere. All paid up...just waiting for the next one to arrive! I'm trying to get my luggage situation in order before it arrives.

 

For better or worse, I already purchased a Yamaha OEM rack that will hold a top box.

 

I think it would be cool to mount Tusk Pilot ADV panniers in conjunction with the OEM rack/top box.

 

Is that possible? Or, do I need to ditch the entire rack, and purchase the full Tusk rack system (which includes a top plate for  mounting I believe).

Did you buy just the rear rack option or did you also get the racking for the side panniers. If you went with just the rear rack for the top box you are going to need some sort of pannier rack to support the pilot bags or they are going to rub against your plastics and exhaust. I went with the tusk system (Much cheaper) and the Olympus soft bags which hard mount into the racks.
