Hi all,

i've just bought a T7 2021 with 1600 miles and find the Engine a bit noisy on acceleration its a  knocking & tapping sound

i've never owned a Yamaha before always had honda's so not sure if this is just normal engine noises.

i would appreciate other T7 owners opinion.

many thanks Mat

There has not been many problems reported with this motor.

You could take it to a dealer and ask the service department to take it out and evaluate it ($$).

Best advice I can give you is find a buddy with the same bike and swap for a ride.

Does it have an aluminum aftermarket skid plate?

They can make all the normal engine noises sound much louder.

Good call @mpatch, I didn't even think about that!

I almost think the stock paper-thin one would be noisier than a thicker one, at least more tinny sounding....

Have you checked for any loose fasteners or anything else externally that could be vibrating?

If it is noisy it is still running.  If it was a bad noise it wouldn't last long.

This is a chatty engine for sure.  Coming from a GS, it is not too bad.
