Can you flip the front sprocket?

My bike has 9900 miles, we're in a great discussion in a different thread about chain maintenance, but I didn't want to hijack it.

Can I flip the front sprocket to get more life?  It looks like I've worn it juuuuust to the spot where the drive surface "meat" is worn.

The t7 manual is quiet on the topic, but my 2021 YZ manual has a page on it, which says to change it out when 1/4 of the tooth is gone, which I'd say I don't have yet.

Thoughts?

Often the sprockets are not symmetrical, i.e. offset for chain alignment. It can be useful to swap out the front, which often wears faster to extend the life of the chain and rear sprocket.

Visually, that looks like a lot of wear for only 9900 miles.

It’s like changing metal to metal moving parts or swapping tyres about on some wagons, it’ll alter and increase the wear. I wouldn’t do it. No point. Get you’re wallet out. 😉

Probably about the most inexpensive part to replace- it’ll do the chain no good id have thought

I did end up flipping the front.  The unused side of the teeth were perfect.  The rear sprocket can't be flipped the teeth are offset.  I suppose you could flip it but it would move the teeth toward the spokes about 3-5mm, probably not a big deal but I bought a new one for $24.

No Problem @mpb1 just keep a bit of chain tension...
