As in, the nationwide legalization of Marijuana. The very first sales just took place in St John's, at midnight, with people lined up out the door and down the street.

I remember the reefer madness speeches when I was a teenager, older people worried that if Marijuana were to be legalized, it would be the end of western civilization.   This was back in the early 80's and I really figured back then that Marijuana would be legalized by the year 2000 because even in the 80's, most everyone who wanted to smoke weed were already buying and smoking weed. It was everywhere.

Well, my home state passed statewide legalization and you know what? People aren't Fucking in the streets. Kindergarten kids aren't shooting up outside the schools, mobs of pot heads aren't over running city hall, and stoned drivers aren't running over senior citizens on the sidewalks.

In fact, nothing has changed. Nothing, zero, zilch, Except for the fact that a whole bunch of tax revenue is now available for schools and road repairs. Teachers are getting raises.

Whenever I hear people discuss their concerns about marijuana , it's like listening to someone from back in the dark ages whine and cry about medical science, or running water, or the benefits of sewer systems.  Hearing people talk in fear of cannabis is truly like listening to an idiot.

Canada has free healthcare, really good beer and they no longer will lose their jobs or get arrested for having and using Marijuana.

They are passing us by.

I bet Tim Hortons will be busy.

A serious enquiry, which also happens to be my first post.

Who has expert rather than anecdotal evidence of the medicinal benefits of marijuana?

i was run over by a car 34 years ago and broke my right ankle, put my left hip joint through my pelvis and a compression fracture of my L4 vertebra. I’ve had the left hip replaced three times, arthritis ground off my ankle and my L4 removed and replaced with steel and bone graft.

I would not let it stop me and I’ve ridden 1000 miles in a day, raced cars for 18 years and bikes for five. Now it’s getting to me quite a bit and I still want to ride; the T700 looking like a good choice as it’s up right and hopefully comfy and not silly fast.

I’ve been on all sorts of pain killers over the years but they have side effects from being comatose through itchy and irritable. Cannabis Oil has become leagal in the U.K. - would I benefit from it but still be able to ride?

Well it has been a year and I wonder what was all the fuss about.  Edibles will now be legal this year which is a little scary because some adults just don't know how to lock up stuff that kids can get into.

cheers

Hey Robin,

My father uses it for arthritis and back issues, and has had huge success. My hometown is the oldest per-capita city in Canada, and a number of legitimate clinics have popped up offering a multitude of health solutions. CBD can have a really wide range of health benefits, and there are specialists that can inform you on whether you would be a good candidate. I think it is an avenue worth exploring, and it is worth noting that the standard CBD oil contains no THC, and therefore no effects that may bring you unwanted attention. Not expert evidence by any means, but any natural alternative that has you avoiding those generic awful symptoms should be worth exploring at least.

First off Robin, congrats to being a survivor. I believe your part of a special group. Not all humans can relate to people who have overcome major injuries/surgeries etc. I am blessed to be alive form a MVA in 1992.

Medical Marijuana, it’s a very good option for many reasons. Although, ask two dispensaries the same question......be prepared for different answers. Tenerecananda is correct about the CBD benefits. The trick is to really watch the THC levels. If you so choose to start the path to alternative pain relief. I have tried, but failed, with two “trips to the moon” from THC in the CBD product. IMHO, 5 mg of THC for a person with zero THC tolerance can be an experience. However, CBD benefits have been well documented from pain, to seizures, and personal friends of mine getting off prescription meds.  CBD micro dosing is a method my friend does.

Charlottes Web, this is the story about a little girl and seizures. There are numerous stories about Medical Marijuana and it’s benefits.

Currently, I am not using any Medical Marijuana product. I do hope that one day I can find the magical product to aid me. It is a good alternative option and the knowledge base continues to “grow” daily.

Interesting subject.  I'm a left leg amputee and suffer from bad bouts of 'phantom limb pain'  .  Getting evil stabbibg pains or symptoms that feel like your leg is being crushed when it isn't even there can be very trying at times.

I have been prescribed all sorts of prescription medicines from doctors but I find that they all have quite serious side affects so I tend not to bother nowadays.  Cannabis oil is not something I've tried yet but if I found that it would take this pain away without to many other problems then I would go for it.

boboneleg, thanks for sharing....a lot of us have health concerns. I believe you should do some investigation into this. Currently, it seems most pain prescription are loosely based around opioids, scary.

Is Medical Marijuana legal in your region?
