Service Intervals

Hi everyone! I have a 2022 Tenere 700 and my owner's manual says to conduct service intervals every 4,000 miles (bought it in the US). I looked up Tenere 700 owner's manuals online today and found there are other versions that recommend 6,000 miles service intervals. See below for pics. Do you guys know why that is? Can I do the 6,000 mile interval and be okay? Thanks!

You didn't say what country you purchased your T7 in, but you'll probably will be fine with either interval as I had found the same discrepancy.   After seeing how " used" my oil is at 4,000 miles, I've adopted that rather than the 6,000 interval.  If push came to shove on an unlikely warranty issue, Yamaha might hold your feet to the fire if you didn't follow the service intervals specified in the Owner's Manual included with the bike, but personally I wouldn't worry about it.

For yamaha everywhere standard oil change interval is 10k km so around 6k miles.

4k miles is over kill, not needed. Probably mistake or dealers wanted to have it in US

where too frequent oil change is common scam.

My 2023 Tenere has 3k miles on it. I had the dealer service it for the 600 mile post-breakin work which included an oil change. I just changed the oil today and it was WAY darker and used than I expected. Here's what mine looks like after 2,400 miles (3,840 km). My new personal schedule is every 2k miles now. Learned the details to change it myself, it's only $35 or something like that. Easy enough.

I do it every 5000km, 10k is wayyy too long, that's just bike manufacturer BS.  When the oil is filthy black it's full of contaminants, that's wear on the moving parts, that's common sense.  I just use modern car oil too, bike oil is a ripoff and no better, I got that advice from the mechanic owner running the premier suspension shop in my city, he used to be head mechanic at the Honda dealer before he went into business for himself.  He didn't sell oil, just great suspension setups.
