September 28, 20222 yr Nope but i don't know if it is needed to have the bike running while bleeding as it is a pump.
September 28, 20222 yr Community Expert No need to have the engine running or the power turned to bleed the brakes. The ABS system is a pass thru system. If you are really worried about getting old fluid out of the ABS system, cause the ABS to activate before and after the fluid change by grabbing a hand full and a foot full of brakes on dirt to get the ABS system to cycle. I’d suggest to only do one brake at a time.

September 29, 20222 yr While no tools are “needed” I would highly recommend a vacuum pump (meant for bleeding brakes) to assist in bleeding over the old fashion way of doing it.
September 29, 20222 yr Author So if i get a vacuum pump that will clear the fluid through the ABS pump as i bleed the brakes at the calipers, is there a bleed valve on the ABS pump?
September 29, 20222 yr Community Expert No bleed valve on the ABS pump. When you bleed the brakes, the fluid gets pulled through the ABS pump. The reason I suggested cycling the ABS before and after bleeding is to get old fluid out of and new fluid into the circuit behind the normally closed ABS valves in the pump. Again you don’t need to do this and it’s probably overkill. An easier solution than vacuum pump is putting speed bleeder nipples on the calipers. They work great as long as you aren’t ham fisted tightening them up. They replace the OEM bleeder nipples and have a one way valve so you can just open them, connect your collection hose, and pump away on the brake lever/pedal.
April 19, 20232 yr Author Finally got round to it after pricing up vacuum bleeding kits at approx £50.00 for something i will do every two years not worth buying, i got my local Yamaha dealer A2 Motorcycles Gravesend to do it for £38.00.
April 20, 20232 yr There is a great video on revzilla with Ari Henning(Shop Manual). I watched it and bleed my brakes after installing "The Fix". What a world of difference. Its easy.
