Err on dash with ABS lights

Lachbeth1125

Question

Hi All,

Hoping you can help, I have a new T7 with 270kms on the clock.

Today on its 2nd ride (all road work so far), it displayed "Err" next to the speed indicator (it showed 0kph)"

Also the ABS light at right bottom was flashing, and ABS light on left was glowing solid.

(All other dash functions working fine, such as gear indicator, economy, tacho etc)

Bike rides fine.

This occured on its 2nd road only ride, taking it very easy.

After letting cool for 5 hours, ignition completely off, when restart, all same symptoms.

Any help would be fantastic (before I take back to the dealership).

PS, only the 2nd ride but I am totally hooked!

Cheers 👍

Thanks Lewie,

The research this afternoon is telling me same suggestion.

Really disappointed,.270kms brand new!

Appreciate your help.

I guess nothing to do but wait for dealership to reopen.

I don't want mess with anything, that way they won't blame me for the error.

Again, cheers for help 👍

Not yet mate, I collected the bike on Friday, they are closed for Xmas/New Year for the next 8-9 days.

Feel I shouldn't ride it with errors.

Just have to wait I guess.

Cheers for the reply 👍

We’ve seen the problem lewie mentioned on several bikes built by some dealers. Some with the abs ring on the wrong side/ wheel on backwards! Even if it was a quick fix for you, I’d still take it back to them so they could see what they’d handed over after a pre delivery inspection. Then ask for a freebie to save their embarrassment being shared on a forum. Gotta be worth a T-shirt at least.

Bummer but better wait instead of risking a warranty void.

Read this thread as this person had the same issue as you.

Maybe send a PM to him and see what he found as the issue.

My bet would be a loose connection on the back of the display unit, but read the service manual for items to check.

Hi Lewie,

Was that directed at me?

Apologies if I was away from the phone for a while , it was night here in Australia, I had a sleep!

I really appreciate everyone's assistance with this problem, I will definitely update when the cure/solution is found.

Thanks again 👍

Dont let it discourage you. Its just one of those things. Its a very reliable bike and probably something simple or maybe they messed up something on assembly.

Hi Williestreet,

I think your suggestion is correct, I did give the connection at the rear of the display a squeeze (it has a rubber boot over it), the err disappeared 👍

perhaps not pushed together firm enough on assembly.

Anyway, fingers crossed, will keep everyone informed.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions everyone. Cheers
