What types of tree's do you use for firewood there in CH?

Here in Norway most people prefer Birch. However with the huge rise in energy prices they burn whatever they can get.

Prefer? I think that would be beech wood mainly. Burns quite a long time and gives a good heat. But usually we burn what's growing around. So that depends very much on where you live. Where I live (around 900 m above sea level and up) it's some beech wood but mostly white or red fir. Birch is kinda "expensive" here, because there's not a lot growing in the wild. (I liked to chip carve knive handles in beech, olive, walnut or oak even.)

Interestingly, I found horse riders to be very polite - because I always stop for them. Doesn't cost me anything except half a minute to let them pass, and they're grateful and hopefully won't per se hate motorcyclists any more. In a crowded continent, we need to tolerate each others. Not only in one direction, as cyclists and hikers expect it!

Right! And "Wie man in den Wald hinein ruft, so schallt es heraus!" (similar to "you are treated as you treat others").
