Replacing grips on OEM Heated Grips?

Has anyone tried to replace the standard hard rubber grips that come with the Yamaha OEM heated grips with anything else?

Being they are not cheap thought I would ask first before I try and potentially destroy them!

Question is a little confusing but if you mean to separate the heating element from the grips themselves, thats not possible

only other option would be new heated grips,

 

or a foam cover, however these are larger diameter and dont always allow the full heat through
