Yamaha Welders

Was out in shed today getting ready to continue with my patio steel framed pergola.

so while tidying up my tools i was taking few sneak peaks around bike and decided how well does the Adv spec sump guard fit up

then as looked closer seen the welds on the exhaust

man I'm no welder but these just look awful. loads little pin holes in the welds, none look to be straight into pipe but a lovely spot for corrosion start and rot a hole in few years.

Ill probably pop these off some point, tidy them up and maybe weld up the few holes

below is one pic where the cat is located, there are more areas like this on the header

Professional opinion; TIG not MIG to repair. And use a purge hose.

When welded it will require passivating to avoid corrosion fatigue cracking.

Don't be tempted to use HF acid passivating paste unless you have the correct PPE.

Try and get hold of a TIG brush for passivation

You worry too much. Just ride the bike.

Inconsequential on a mass produced stainless header with a cover.

Just ride it.

yes i hve a DC tig welder and was going just massage in the metal,

the current welds look like mig though, or else they were hand repaired or finished by hand Mig
