My approach to parts like sprockets is that if you have an epic trip planned, change it before you set off. If you're just commuting, leave it on and just keep an eye on it. Are you inclined to change it yourself? If so, buy the part in preparation and again, just keep an eye on it...

No, this socket has about 3000 kilometers  of use and i want to know did it wear prematurely or not?

My previous sprocket was changed at 18,000 km but had lots of life left even then.

I have a little over 18k miles on my stock chain and sprockets. The sprockets still look good but the chain is toast.

How long is a piece of string?

How many km on that chain and sprocket?
Chain looks tight with no lube. Sprocket looks fine.
You should get over 15,000 km from a properly adjusted and lubed chain

That's hardly showing wear mate - 10 000 miles left

Check the front sprocket, that's the one that wears out.
This was my front around 15k km with a perfectly fine rear so i changed the front only.

@Ray Ride4life my experience as well.  Chain and rear sprocket plenty of life at 13,000 miles, front sprocket replaced at 8,250 miles.  Front sprocket still looks good.

It's just logic.

If you look at the theeth touching the chain you'll see the front is just a fraction of the rear.

The power is also at the front sprocket because it's attached to the driveshaft. So more power on less contact points is much more wear.

Yap. Just had a look and it seems like my front sprocket won't last forever either. Bike has 24k kms on the clock. Rear sprocket and chain seem to be fine though.
