January/Feb trip to Mojave desert

My work project in Seattle is finishing up in late December.  Will spend holidays at my home in Wyoming and change out toys in my trailer then.  I know I will be attending King of the Hammers this year end of Jan/Feb, missed last year after attending three years in a row,  should have time for other stuff either before or after the race.  Planning on southern Utah and Moab and maybe Death Valley.  Anything remotely close to the route between NW Wyoming and Johnson Valley is game. 

 

Anyone familiar with these areas have suggestion of good area for this time of year let me know.   I have time/money/gas to spend.
