Torque settings for Heed crash bars

Connal

Question

Hi all. I'm fitting HEED crash bars to my T7 but cannot find any torque tightening specifications for the bike to make sure I'm getting it right. The bars fix to the three pairs of bolts on either side - two hold either end of the sub frame and the remaining pair fix the top rear engine bracket to the frame. Can anyone advise me on what torque settings I can safely use? Thank you in advance.

Front/lower side of crashbar : 34 N•m (3.4 kgf•m, 25 lb•ft).

Back/middle side of crashbar : 30 N•m (3.0 kgf•m, 22 lb•ft)

@Leocratus

Front/lower side of crashbar : 34 N•m (3.4 kgf•m, 25 lb•ft). = green

Back/middle side of crashbar : 30 N•m (3.0 kgf•m, 22 lb•ft) = red

I believe that your green circle should be in a different position. Where it is drawn now is not the mounting point of the heed crashbars.

@Leocratus Now is see what you mean.  The correct forces are as follows;

Front/lower side of crashbar : 34 N•m (3.4 kgf•m, 25 lb•ft). = blue

Back/middle side of crashbar : 30 N•m (3.0 kgf•m, 22 lb•ft) = red

Engine support : 34 N•m (3.4 kgf•m, 25 lb•ft) = green

Top side of crashbar : 55 N•m (5.5 kgf•m, 41 lb•ft) = yellow

Ok I've checked this. According service manual yellow one is 23Nm.

Thank you for the torque settings cruiser - I've only had it a week so I'm keen not to screw anything up so early. Jeff they've lined up perfectly on mine. The top sub-frame mount is a bit fiddly to get to but otherwise they look great.

Hi everyone,

Just want to say hallo since I'm new in this community and in Tenere 700 world as well :)

@MidlifeCRUISER and @Connal can you specify directly which torques should I apply? On a picture I marked mounting points with colors: red, green, blue and yellow.

Thank you guys :)

@MidlifeCRUISER thanks a lot.

Actually it's a mountaing point. Two of them (green, blue) are positioned on either end of subframe.

Anyway I managed to do this and it looks really great.

Cheers

Thanks @MidlifeCRUISER.  Oh I must correct the torque on head since I applied 35Nm on every mounting point. BTW 55Nm on head it is IMHO something really significant...

Stay healthy

@Leocratus You're completely right! I was looking at the wrong location. Sorry about that.

I'm leaning towards the HEED crash bars too.  Are all of the mounting points on the frame rather than the engine?
