Rusting 2024 Spokes

Recommended Posts

My bike is about 7 weeks old with ~800 miles.  Never seen dirt or rain/garden hose and is parked indoors.  But, the spokes on the bikes have already started growing (rust?) something on them.   Cant tell if it's rust yet, but sure looks like it. That's some pretty shitty QC on Yamaha's part.  Disappointed.  Anyone else have this issue?

A lot of us in fact. Rusty spokes were a known issue, Yamaha claims to have it solved since 2022 or so, and usually the spokes are being replaced under warranty (ar least in Europe).

Mine also have dark spots, but I rather suspect it to be some nasty residues of the rear brake pads: On the front there are almost no spots, and the dark spots appear mostly on the RHS (brake side).

FYI, off-the-road.de sell real stainless spokes for the T7.
